May 29 - Numbers

The "nutritional" information for the chips I packed away after I got home from work.  Sigh.

May 28 - The Weather Today

A view from the 23rd Avenue overpass, looking North into downtown Edmonton.  This overpass over Calgary Trail, or Highway 2, took years to get engineered and built.  And I get to enjoy it on bike, thankfully.  It's made my route to work safer than riding along side the truck traffic on 99st.

Here's Holly!  She's taking a picture of her evening beverage, while I take a picture of her.  It's so meta.

May 25 - Unusual Item in the car

I shamelessly ripped this image off an Ebay auction, since I couldn't find a picture of it anywhere else..

But this is a SJB, or a Smart Juction Box.  It's actually pretty frikken stupid, as it's about to cost me $700 to have it replaced (this does include taxes and labour, mind you).  It all started when I got a phone call from Holly that went something like this:

"Hi hun.  The car is saying to check the signal lights.  Can you pick up a bulb on the way home?"

Sure, no problem I think - I'll go home, pull the old one out, replace it, and we're done.  Right?  Nope.  Bulb looked fine when I pulled it out, and sure enough, when I put it in the OTHER signal socket, it works..  so it's not the bulb.  Put it all back togheter, and now I notice that the right signal light is on perpetually.  Even with the key out of the ignition.  Even after 15 minutes.  Ok, pull the battery, see if we can reset whatever electronics is jacked up.  That didn't help.

Pull some fuses, test them, all test good.  Poke around on the Internet, and find quite a few forum postings about how this fails in some vehicles, and exhibits similar issues to what I am seeing.

Fast forward to today, when I finally take it into the shop..  and here we are: a shorted out SJB.

Car ownership sucks.

May 20 - Eclipse Day

Today is supposed to be "Something I can't live without", which we'll get to in a bit..  but more importantly, it's the solar eclipse day!

We live in Edmonton, which is a bit too far out of the way to get the FULL eclipse..  we're projected to get about 60% coverage.  We didn't quite get there before the cloud cover came in, but we got a good look.

May 17 - Snack

Well, I've missed a few days here - the 15th was supposed to be Love, which has me using the same subjects as before..  Holly and the boys, and the 16th was supposed to be something that I'm reading.  Which I'm reading a bit here and there (generally Java stuff), but I'm listening to a lot more content than I'm reading, which makes posting a picture about content I'm consuming kinda hard.

So, I skipped a few days.

Today is snack.  This is a typical lunch for me, with the snack piled on top.  Most days that I ride to work I'll start my day with an egg, toast and coffee, and once I get to work a banana.  During the day I'll kill the orange sometime, have lunch, and save the apple for right before I go home for a little kick of energy to carry me home.  Sometimes it works, sometimes not!

There used to be some beautiful grasslands I would ride through to get to my parent's place from work..  this was the scene where they were.

Construction.  Sigh.

May 12 - Makes me happy

In today's May Photo A Day, we have something that makes me happy - which generally includes food.

Today's picture is of the family at the breakfast table, having home made waffles with bacon.  Mmm, I love bacon.  I had asked for a table-wide "Cheeese!!" and got it from 2 out of 3, so I figured that I shouldn't push my luck and work with the picture that I got.

I don't know what we're on deck for today.  I think we're looking for some bedroom furniture (it's only been 7ish years since we've moved in, maybe it's time), and to get some stuff for Mother's Day Tea tomorrow with Holly's mom and sisters (and I think significant other's).
