Well, that's not QUITE true - I think there's a little blob of it on the right-hand side of the picture, near the tree on the road. Either way, I think it's safe to say that we're finally done with winter.
Which is great, because really, I'm getting antsy not being on my bike. Which I'll immediately say, after one day of riding, that I'm sore and tired, and can't wait to drive/transit again.
Looking at this picture reminds me of all the things I need to do in the yard to get going for the year, raking being one of the big ones. Since we bought a push reel mower last year - or the year before - I don't remember (you know, the kind that doesn't have a gas engine on the top of it), there's more thatch in the grass this year than previously. I've got a good mind to rent a power rake, but I've seen what they can do to a yard. So, it may be me + rake + weekend.
Today was my first day back at work after the long weekend, and it was a bit of a slow start. I had taken the car in for a routine oil change at Park Mazda, where I redeemed a "get a free oil change" coupon. So, that had to be done before May 1st, and the car was overdue.. The problem being is that it made me quite late for work, so the day was almost half over by the time I got in.
Not a big deal, I suppose, but it kinda messes up the day. Hard to get in a routine when your routine is almost half over. Oh well, I suppose there is tomorrow.
Riley had his graduation photos today, and hopefully he smiled nicer than last time! Last time was "good", but goofy - he had his blue sweater zipped all the way up to his chin, and a closed-mouth smile that say "haha, you can't make me!". At least I know he managed to keep his hair styled until I dropped him off, so we've actually got a chance of having a good picture taken. Time will tell, I suppose.
Tomorrow, he's off to the library at the U of A. They went last year, and I remember him having a good time, so hopefully the same is true this year.
It's going to be a bit sad to see him leave preschool this summer, but I think Kindergarten will be good for him, and it'll be even better that he's doing it with people he'll meet in the neighborhood and may see when he's out at the park and such.
Anyhow, tomorrow for me.. We've got a bunch of new blood starting, so I've got to get their computers setup, and the "celebration" party is in the afternoon, so it could be another unproductive day.
