April 28 - The ride home

April 28 - The ride home

First rain of the season..  Well, not of the WHOLE season, but first ride home in the rain.

It also happened to be a lovely head wind on the way home, which made the ride all that much more enjoyable.

No hint of sarcasm.

So, this is my view for most of my ride - the bell on the left is trashed mostly due to me working on my bike upside down.  The empty bracket is for my old Garmin eTrex 100 (which, if anyone wants, please let me know).  On the right is my headlight, which didn't fare so well through the winter, and doesn't really blink anymore as it does quickly flash like a bad Rihanna music video.

Riding home in the rain kinda bites.  It's not really the cold that gets me, though I'm not overly partial to the headwind.  It's the shit you have to do after the ride in the rain.  Your ass is covered in sand and grit.  Your pack is filty, your clothes are soaked (then subsequently stink), your chain and casette is full of sand and grit, and the whole nine yards needs to get cleaned out.  All of a sudden, your hour plus ride gets to be another thirty minutes while you clean up from the ride you just took.  Blargh.

This week has been interesting.  Given the way that it started off last Thursday, it's been a bit of a tough go.  Yesterday afternoon we had a celebration for the good work we did in 2010, but it was somewhat dampened by the sour news that has kinda been dominating my mind since it was received.

So, it's basically Friday, I'm not going to ride my bike, and I'm looking forward to a quiet day.  Maybe actually get some work done.

Haha, yeah, right.
