Feb 11 - An expensive oopsie

What do we see here?  One of these boxes is my brand new Dell Precision M5400 from a Latitude D830.  Nothing wrong with the latitude, but there was a need for some lower-end laptops for a light usage group, so upgrades ensued.

We had purchased 8, so when the email came through from shipping & receiving saying that 16 boxes had arrived, it wasn't ENTIRELY unexpected - we have seen cases where the accessories are shipped separately from the laptop, so not a big deal.

After I moved all the machines from S&R, I started to tear into one of the boxes to get at my new machine.  First box I opened had all the stuff in it.  So did the second box.  And so did the 3rd.  By now, I was starting to think that I had received 16 laptops instead of the 8 I planned on.

Sure enough, checking with the paperwork, I did receive double the number of laptops I had expected.  And the only difference was the PO - one document had the PO as CT1234 and the other document had the PO as CT0000001234.

Oops.

So I get to figure out how returns work with Dell.  Except for the 3 that I've already opened, the rest of the boxes haven't been touched, so guess what I get to do Monday?

My oddball network problem has mysteriously disappeared overnight, which makes me think that it was more of a server issue than client.  I mean, how do 4 or 5 clients have the same problem, and they all resolve themselves overnight?  I don't think they do, to be honest.

Steve is away again on Monday, which in the end will be all-right - with all that's going on, I could happily skip the weekly marathon meeting and get on with fixing stuff.

Lots of running and guitar hero this weekend!  Looking forward to it for some reason :)
