I'm looking at yesterday's picture, and I realise that I don't really say anything about it - other than it was a faster ride home. Oops? Anyhow, that's a shot of one of the new LRT cars. Note the lack of carpet. Yes, some of the city LRT cars have carpet on the floor, and it's kinda nasty, and they kinda smell like pee. Boarding this one in Century Park and having the car all to myself allowed me to lie down for a few stops. Then I felt like I was being a hobo, so I sat back up for the remainder of the trip.
I can't begin to describe how happy I am that the week is over. I feel like I'm so far behind that I can't even consider how I'm going to catch up.
At least we're done purchasing printers. We decided to go with the KM C652, the biggest concern was with the service, and we think that we've sorted out the relationship enough that we can make the service issues work out. We're only signing on for 3 years instead of the 4, so even if we do have issues, it won't be drawn out for as long. So, at least this whole process is over.
Which leads right into the next new piece of work - opening a branch office. I've got to figure out how to get a good enough network connection to pipe some data and voice for 10ish employees.
On top of that, I'm still working on getting Windows 7 out to all the desktops in the company. We did go ahead and buy a bunch of laptops to upgrade some of the older machines in the office, so that makes the upgrade path just a bit easier as we can build machines beside the working one. It just goes better, ya know?
So. Today's picture.
On the way home last night, a co-worker sent out an email saying that he was going to be in the office late. So I sent him a note, asking if I could convert him over. We sorted out some of the details, and I did some work from home to get it ready (backing up data, mostly).
This morning, I kicked off his installation, and since I didn't have tonnes of time, I opted to babysit it… and this is the view from his window. I'm sure under normal circumstances, it's nice and sunny and a nice West facing window gives a nice warm afternoon sun… but today, with a cold front moving in (we've gone from -20c to +6c and on our way back down to -20), all I can see in this window is the cold blowing in from the North.
So, with the weekend on deck, we've got a bit of groceries and such to pick up and an 18k run in the barrel. Gonna be a tough one to finish, I think.
