Sunday kinda came and went... this was the view of the 16th KM of my run this morning. Up, up and more up. At least we were going up and back down to add in a short amount of distance to finish up the run. Off to see my parents afterwards, and otherwise have a low key afternoon.
The last few weeks of running have been a bit of a challenge. With the poor weather, our distance runs have been getting cut short because of the poor conditions. In one case, we made our own trail through 4km of power snow, which took us about 45 minutes to complete. Normally a 4km run could be pulled out in about 25 minutes, depending on the speed of the runner... But all this slogging through snow and such is just energy consuming.
I think I should be grateful for that - Between the "aggressive" running, and my poor eating habbits, I've been able to maintain an unhealthy weight of 233lbs for the winter. As the clinic has been winding down, I've been thinking about the goal race which is Melissa's in September, and how I wanted a 2:25 time, and what I need to do to get there. Needless to say, carrying some extra eight around won't help me hit that goal.
What will help is Holly getting going on Weight Watchers online. Not that she needs it, mind you, but improved spousal eating habits will translate directly into improved eating habits for myself.
That basically means that I need to become way more diligent about what I'm eating. I don't plan on enrolling in weight watchers exactly, but journaling and eating a portion (instead of several portions) at meals, and controlling my horrible urge to snack will lead me down the right trail.
Hypo Half training clinic is nearly done, thank goodness... It might be a bit tough to keep up an activity level after February (after the race date), but with a new running partner (my wife!) I think we'll be on track to stay active and lose the next chunk of weight we've both been working on.
Tomorrow.. Hopefully the plan is to get some prices from Allstream and Telus on network connectivity to the new office, and see about getting the network segment configured and start testing it. If I can scrounge together the cash for transit, I think I'll take the bus/LRT again, since I can get a few extra winks of sleep in.
