July 17 - Long Day

July 17 - Long Day

We're waiting for Mom to run into Superstore to get some odds and ends for the week, and when I look in the back seat, here's what I see - two completely asleep children.

I guess no naps during the day, and all the excitement of grandmas and grandpas did them both in.

Incidentally, this was the first time that I had heard silence just about all day, so I didn't mind a whole bunch.

We didn't get up to a whole lot today.  I had a 12k run this morning, which went OK - felt kinda blah through most of the run, and I wasn't all that upset to have it finish.  I did catch a coffee with a friend who I hadn't seen in a long time, so it wasn't a complete loss.

The friend (Rene) also loaned me a nice big saw so I could actually finish the fence that we started last summer.  We needed to chop the top part of the posts off, where the height exceeded the allowed 6', however my circular saw hasn't got a big enough blade to cut through the whole depth of the post.  With this awesome saw (that I now want for Christmas), it was like cutting through butter.

Once we wrapped that up, we were off to my parents place, with a brief stop at Rene's to drop off the saw (and a jar of jammy goodness).

We had a good time at my parents place - the boys got to ride their bikes, Riley got to help Grandpa wax the car.

Tomorrow: Back to work, and the plan is to be on bike.  Short cycling week - Thursday I'll be driving to take Riley out to see Grandma and Grandpa for a Winneah the Pooh date!
