While we're down in Calgary, I thought it would be a "good idea" for me to get out and hit the pavement for a run, so that when I'm out doing next weekends long run of 20k, I'm not completely unprepared. I wasn't looking forward to doing 18 on my own, and in the end, wound up running 10, which felt like a nice enough distance to get the heart rate up and going, but not so long that I was going to go crazy from doing a long solo run.
Besides all that, we were on a bit of a schedule to get to the zoo on time!
The zoo was good, and very busy, though in fairness the facility seemed to be absorbing the crows really well. We made our way to the far end of it, towards toe tigers, since we hadn't been down there in ever. We weren't disappointed - the tiger put on a nice show for us, strutting up and down the fence line, and even going for a short swim.
I think if I lived in this city, I would consider a membership to the zoo. It's big enough that you can't really hit it all in one day.
All in all, lots of fun today!
Tomorrow is Heather's big race day, so there are a few of us gearing up to go out first thing in the morning to see her do her swim, with the rest of the crowd coming later in the morning to see her in the run. Should be lots of fun.
