June 12 - Yard Work

June 12 - Yard Work

After a busy Saturday, we made sure we matched it today.  Riley was up early (about 5 or so) in hysterics with a bad cough, so we calmed his down, gave him some water, and got him back to bed.  As I was crawling back into bed, Holly told me that she was going to stay home if the boys were sick.  In the end, it was probably a good idea - it was cool and damp, and I'm not sure the kids would have had a fabulous time, to say nothing about Holly and her feet issues.

So yeah, after the run, we got to working on the front yard for a bit, then set in to working on the back.

And after mowing, trimming around by the fence, cleaning out the garage, taking out a ton of garbage from the window wells, washing and waxing the car, we are pretty much done for the day.  The kids put up a bit of a fight going to bed, but nothing too bad.

The picture today is my lawnmower.  Yes, it’s an old-school rotary mower thingy, and it works great for the ~1200 square feet of lawn I have to mow.  Even then, I use the whipper snipper for parts of it that are too narrow for the mower or places where I can't really get a good run at mowing.  It's also a lot cheaper to operate - no gas, no maintenance, no nothin'.
