June 17 - Last Day!

June 17 - Last Day!

Today was the last day of preschool for Riley.  He seems to be in pretty good spirits about it, but we've been having a hard time convincing him that Kindergarten will be just as fun.  We're all smiles here, but we've had mixed emotions about the whole "we're done with preschool".

Come to think of it, so do Holly and I.  Preschool has been a lot of work for us - It's been a considerable change for Holly, and for me it's been hours of extra driving out to drop him off at school twice a week.  But what I think I'm going to miss is that I know he's learned a lot.  We've been able to watch his brain grow in ways that we didn't think it could.  I know he'll continue to do that in Kindergarten, but it's somehow sad to see him say goodbye to this part of his education.

Anyhow, fast forward a couple of hours, Holly and I are out for a run, and we run by Riley's new school.  We tell him this is where his new school is, he asks if he can see it.  I know the school is still open, but its Friday, so I don't really want to be in there while they're closing up shop - so we go to peer in the window.

Just as the heavens open up and pour rain.

So while we hide under the front door overhang of the school, Riley is peering into his new classroom at the school he'll be attended and OMG LOOK AT THE TOYS AND THE BOOKS AND I HAVE THOSE AT HOME AND ITS JUST LIKE PRESCHOOL AND …

Yep, good thing we stopped.  The apprehension about going to Kindergarten stopped in a moment.

So, it was a good run for a few reasons, which ended with a stop at the playground for the boys then walking back from there.

Tomorrow  - Holly's back at Physio, and the weather is supposed to suck, so we may just lay low for the day and see what we can get up to at home.
