June 27 - Supervisors

Here we have Riley and Holly, making sure that we're installing the new screen door correctly.  It was a nice day to do something like this - Nice and warm, and shade right where we needed it.

This was another example of "just" install whatever.  "Just" finish the basement. "Just" tile the floor. "Just" install a screen door on the front and back door!

The journey started with a few calls to Rona, where we find out from one store they don't have both doors we want.  The other Rona store wouldn't really do a check to see what they had in stock, so we decided to just wing it and make our way up there.  Removed the car seats, folded the seats down, and we were as eqipped as possible to get the doors in the back of the car.

Once at Rona, we found the door we wanted, then found one that we REALLY wanted for a few bucks more..  so, into the cart it goes.  The front door, we were looking for a basic screen door - something that we could leave closed and let a lot of air through.  The problem was that all the ones that were the right size either didn't have a screen or were broken in the corners.  In the end, we didn't pick up a door for the front, which turned out OK - we didn't really have time to get it installed.

Other than breaking a few drill bits (apparantly I can't hold a drill straight), and getting completely confused with the opener mechanism (too many references to "open" to be clear!).  I couldn't get one screw completely screwed in on the door jam bracket before I stripped the screw head out..  so yeah, fun and games with home improvements.

Tomorrow: Misc odds and ends around the house.  Door handles, railing hardware, and so on.
