Today is the example of a lazy summer day.. bike ride with Riley in the morning, played around with the Arduino after that, and then off to a painful trip at the Home Depot where some old hag of a lady literally waited, car half in the parking spot, while Holly buckled Lukah into his seat.
Good times. I’m so happy that people are so considerate of other people - especially when they’re with children. I mean, I don’t expect my child to be my “get out jail free” card, but I mean come on - the parking lot is nearly completely empty, do you HAVE to park RIGHT THERE?
It’s one of those things where you know that if you weren’t parked there, you know you would have had a fresh new door ding.
Anyhow, apart from the stupidity that is the Home Depot, we did manage to get a few things done today: Holly got the garden squared away (finally).. We had some paths that were just dirt, and therefore weeds, which we laid down some paper and put wood chips down. We got the latch sorted out on the back door, though it still needs a tiny bit of tweaking, got the railings for the basement primed, painted and installed (first time since we started hauling stuff in to finish the basement). The laundry room doors finally have handles - the doors are pretty new, so it's not like that one has been sitting un-done for a long time. We also put in a new doorbell on the front of the house, just to make it match the numbers.
A few more items still on the holiday to-do list, including some work on the basement bathroom (finishing up the walls, and some electrical fun), and finishing the suspended ceiling.
Oh, and to say nothing about the awesome sandbox I have in mind for the boys!
Tomorrow: Hopefully another bike ride, Papa's on his way over to chip at the basement bathroom, and then we've got to get our race kits for the run on Friday. To top all that off, we've got hills! 6 sets to finish up.
