March 18 - This week is finally over

March 18 - This week is finally over

Today's picture - it was a preschool day for Riley, so as usual I shipped him out to my parents (along with my bike), and I went off to work.  My dad took Riley out to the Strathcona Wilderness Centre for some cross-country ski fun.  It looks like he's having fun, and we all know just how awesome Grandpa is...

I don't know what it was about this week, but it just seemed to go on forever.  It's not like anything major happened - we had some issues with our wireless at the beginning of the week, but nothing that tore the whole network down.

We had some fun with new offices being setup, and wiring everything up.  Again, nothing major, but I've never enjoyed pulling cable, but it kind of comes with the territory.  It also gets me thinking a bit more about life beyond C-FER and doing more than systems and networks.  What's the best way to approach that?  Get some good certs, and try to move into management?  Go to school and get a degree or more?  I don't know.  I guess I should figure it out before it passes me by.

So my bike it out at my parents for some spring service.  I get there this afternoon to pick up Riley, and Riley dutifully repeats to me "Daddy, your chain is very old, and your pedals are broken and you need new cables".  Chain (which also means cassette), index cables, brake cables, pedals, and possibly a new bottom bracket (the factory one has been clicking for a long, long time now) will make up the punch list for this years bike service.  Here's hoping I can keep from popping spokes again like I did two years ago, because man - nothing sucks quite like busting up a wheel with broken spokes.

So biking to work is on deck (possibly as early as next week), I'm signed up for Corporate Challenge doing the road race and mountain bike ride (which will be FUNN-EE..  Last time I mountain biked was Naramata about 3 years ago), I've got a half marathon clinic to run starting in May, and getting Holly trained up for Melissa's in September, plus I really want to try rollerblading to work at least once…  I think I'm up for an active summer.

Can you tell I'm looking forward to it?
