In one of the less flattering pictures of my wife, Holly, she's still dealing with the cold from hell that I dealt with last week. Except she got lucky with it - she managed to burst a blood vessel in her eye, making it a bit uncomfortable for her, and had the wonderful side effect of her walking around looking like a pirate all day. ARRR!
Generally un-eventful day today. I got out for a run this morning, 9k.. Everyone, except the back pack (who I was with) managed to miss a critical turn, adding an extra KM to the run for the "fast" group. oops.. maybe we'll print maps next time. Holly and the boys were going to join me this morning, but we got worried about Holly's eye. It's not like running has a direct impact on anything that her eye might do, but we were worried that any sweat and debris blown up by the wind might aggrivate it more than it already was. So, it turned out to be a last minute decision, she dropped me off and I went for a run with free hands.
Last night, I finally enrolled at the University of Athabasca. The intent is that I will get myself a shiney piece of paper that says I know more about computers and computing sciences than before I went in. We'll see how it goes. My application has currently been submitted, and I'm waiting for them to evaluate my transcript and such from NAIT.
The advantage to AU is that its nearly all by correspondance. I don't need to go into a classroom to listen to a lecture, it's something I can do at home, while I'm travelling, or on slow days at work. Also, if I'm accepted to the program with C-FER, they will also help pay for part of the program, as well as give me some time to study and take exams. If all goes well, it could be kinda slick.
So, we'll see how the next little bit goes. I'm waiting to hear back to see if AU will give me credit for any courses taken, and then figure out what I need to take to get my requirements met.
