May 30 - A Rambling

Lukah seems to have missed the notice that the snow is gone, but that's OK - he's having fun!

Perpetually late. 

That's basically been my posts for the last..  Uh..  Long while.  It's not that I don't have much to say, but its more a matter of time.  At the end of the day, I don't really feel like posting about what's been going on.  I generally feel like going to bed and sleeping.

After all, getting up at 4 AM to bike to work is kinda tiring.  It doesn't help that we usually pack it un after 11 or so, which means actually getting to sleep around midnight, so that leaves me with 4 hours of sleep or so on most week nights.

I try to take advantage of days I can sleep in as much as possible, but to be honest, sleeping in until 7:30 or so isn't much.  Sleeping in is SLEEPING IN.  To like 9.  Or noon.  I don't think that happens now that I'm officially old (being a parent, and all).

I've really been enjoying the bike rides this year.  I remember trying to ride to work with one eye closed last year, but so far this year it's been quite a bit more enjoyable and invigorating.  It's still early, sure, but it's been more "fun" or something this year.  I'm not saying that work is "fun" (it's not horrible), but riding has been enjoyable.  Something about the morning air.  Not sure.  The afternoon rides aren't too bad either, and the one trip I've done between Sherwood Park and home was pretty good.  I suspect I'll have a different take on this come August, when I've been biking for 4 months straight.

At least I'm saving some cash on gas, right?  In exchange for being exhausted, I suppose.

It's been pretty hard to be enthused about work lately.  There's a bunch of things going on which aren't really fit for publication, but needless to say, the general feeling at work has been a lot of work for not much return.  This extends beyond me (and actually impacts others moreso than I), but seeing as I work there, I'm affected as well.  I think in situations like this it's easy to get upset or angry about how the cards play out, but I've been trying to remain positive about it.  I've been really trying to do the things I want to do at work (while still doing my job), which has me working on website stuff and systems instead of ..  Well, I'm not sure.

I've also applied for some further education type things, that is still pending, so I'm hesitant to say much.  But if that pans out, I could be just a little more busy than I am now.
