May 7 - Day out with Thomas

May 7 - Day out with Thomas

Today's (well, yesterday's post) is late due to the fact that we were pretty busy for most of the day, and when we weren't busy we were in transit.  So…

Today was the "Day out with Thomas" down in Calgary.  Much fun was had - a train ride (pulled by Thomas, of course), face painting, crafts, colouring, model trains and so much more.  It didn't take long for the kids to be completely worn out by lunch time, so we decided to take our leave.

The picture is of Riley, Lukah and Holly (and some other kid that kinda got close) from the other side of the tracks.  They were both pretty amazed, and had lots of fun watching the train pass them by.  It's not often they get to see a real train up close and personal like that!

The rest of the trip was generally uneventful - they were really well behaved in the van up and down the highway, except for one emergency stop to pee along the way.  A quick stop for dinner at my parents place, and we were off home and to bed.

Before I ramble on, I need to pass along a big Thank You to Heather for letting us make a massive mess of your place for the weekend!  It's really nice of you to let us crash there as often as we do!!

Tomorrow (well, today), is the first long run of the Intact half marathon clinic, a whoppin' 7km.  The forecast is looking great, so we'll all head out in the double stroller and have a nice run.  I think we're aiming to go around the "church loop", which is just shy of the 7km mark, so we'll add a little bit of distance by over-shooting the running room and coming back around the long way.  The route we wound up taking can be viewed at http://www.runningfreeonline.com/Map/Create/Course/9755 (the projected route, not what we actually ran).

After the run, we'll be back to my parent's place for the weekly cleaning visit and some mother's day dinner.

The rest of the week looks like it'll be a great week for biking to work, with high's up into the 20s.  I'm starting to get into the groove of cycling, and as much as I hate to say it, I really am looking forward to biking into work and getting the activity level up.

Someone remind me of that when I have a flat tire, m'kay?
